TAKING THE TIME: OUR APPROACH TO NATIVE TITLE
At Abbotts, we believe that truly supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities starts with taking the time to listen and get to know people and their unique aspirations. We engage respectfully to understand each group’s governance structures, cultural protocols, and community priorities.
We recognise that managing a Native Title Land Trust involves complex legal, cultural, and financial factors. Our role is to simplify this journey, guiding Native Title Groups with transparency and professionalism. As Trustees for Native Title, we have honest and open conversations around governance, risk and responsibilities.
TAILORED TRUSTEE SERVICES
Every trust is different, and as Independent Trustees, we have the unique capability to tailor our services to reflect that. We provide Native Title Trust Services that are specifically designed around the needs and priorities of each Native Title Group.
We can either:
- Act as an Independent Trustee, or
- The Group act as trustee, while we provide support with Native Title Trust Administration
Our flexible model makes it easier for communities to choose how involved they want to be and the level of risk they are willing to take on, while still meeting all governance and compliance obligations.
Our work includes:
- Trust establishment and deed design
- Support transitioning to community-controlled models
- Development of governance frameworks
- Consultation and design of Native Title Payments and benefit distribution
- Ongoing Indigenous Trust Management and community engagement
We can work within your existing trust deed, modify it, or create a new trust from the ground up. We can also advise on how a Professional Trustee is defined in your deed and what rules apply.
FEE TRANSPARENCY & INDEPENDENT ADVICE
Abbotts do not charge based on the value of the trust or income earned. Our pricing is based purely on the work involved, if your trust income grows, your fees don’t automatically increase.
As Independent Trustees, we do not take commissions or referral fees from financial advisors. We work only with independent financial advisors. This ensures that each trust receives advice and investment management that is right for the group, not what is right for us.
